I've had 3 early first gen troops, an 87, and two 86's
All. 2.3's.
They are pretty gutless, BUT, they are pretty soid. My first one got traded in with 150K on the clock, and it ran like a champ. The second I still have, but it has become a parts truck for my 3rd, which is my daily driver. It has 250k on it.
I have a 60 mile roundtrip everyday, and 40 miles of that is hwy. It runs 70 MPH no problem,(it just takes a while to get up there!) and I am running 30 inch tires.
I also get between 18-21 MPG. Not too bad.
