I cleaned my engine yesterday around 8 AM and left the truck setting to dry all day. I got in around 5:15 last night and noticed I had my A/T Oil Temp light on, as well as the battery light, and the light that comes on when the parking brake is on. What should I check? At first, I thought it was just wet connectors, but after setting all day in neer 100 degree heat, they are still on.

Hopefully, it's just a short...
But a the battery light along with the parking brake dummy lights indicate a bad alternator.

If I get the motor wet, I usually start it up right away to warm it up so the water evaps faster.

Did you cover all electrical parts with plastic bags before you cleaned it?

No, I never have. I guess that is what I get for letting my dad use the hose.

I wash the engine every time I handwash Sherpa. I use a mild to moderately focused spray pattern that doesn't blast the engine. I usually start it either right after I rinse it or right before, and leave it running while I spray it off.

Don't wait too long between starting the engine and getting it wet... you don't want it to heat up so much that cold water might make it crack!

What are the characteristics of the starting problem?

Could be that the alt. was going bad and the water just pushed it to the end. I did that on a Corolla once.

Oh, I don't know about the AT temp light, though. Does that come on right at startup or come on down the road?

The start problem I think is just a bad battery cable. The AT Temp light comes on as soon as I start it though.
