Given all the things that are falling off my gen 1 4- door, I've been window shopping for a later truck.
There have been no manual transmissions whatsoever.
Did they not come that way, or is it just a case of people liking the stick so much that they never sell it?
Is it possible to do a 'trans- plant' of a gen 1 gearbox into an auto gen 2?
Inquiring minds want a drink...

I intend to convert my 95 SR to a stick. The Montero Sport came with a stick, a few at least, as well as some early gen2s. The gen1 as well as the Mighty Max can provide the iron case gearbox. For simplicity you will need the transfer that is on the doner transmission. I would like to get another transfer from an SR so I can install the shift hardware into it for the standard, might need to get some parts from over seas though.
Cheers, Charlie If It ain't broke, Modify it! 87 Montero turbo Converted back in Spring1989 95 Montero SR 3.8 DOHC Only one? 93 Pajero 3 door 6G75 Mivec with paddle shifted 5 speed Then a Gen2 SR with full coil independent suspension.

If it helps, in the NAPA lookup, there are clutches and hydraulics for them, listed for GenII's. Can't say as I've ever seen one, though.

There's a '92 for sale down the street for me, and it's a 5 spd.

My genII is a stick...
If you're going to swap em, the number is the same, V5MT1, from V6 genI to V6 early genII. But I would keep the genII t-case. Superselect with AWD mode is the shiznit... Don't wanna lose that to the old part-time system.

Yeah, but did they ever put them behind the 3.5 in the Gen2's in the US?

According to Alldata, yes, there was a manual transmission in a 96 SR Didn't check any other years.

They do exist, but are super rare. I have seen more Ferrari Enzos on public roads (not counting the Ferrari show in NOLA) than manual gen2s.
I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.
