Getting the Wheeling Fever

i recently picked up a ford 302 and C6 tranny from a friend for free. my 258 is getting tired and now would be a great time for a swap. the motor already has a rear sump. my issue is with transmissions. my jeep is an 89 YJ with an AMC 258, TF999 automatic, and np231.
-is it possible to mate the 302 to the tf999? (i understand it may not be the best match, but i can drive with a light foot until more time is available)
_could the C6 ever fit in the yj?

The TF999 should be fine behind the 302, if you can get them to match. Several of us around here have AMC 304 or 360 engines tied to a TF999.

i shot an email to novak adapters today. i'm waiting to see what they say. that's good to hear that the tf999 should be fairly adequate. i was thinking though...automatic transmissions have the bellhousing permanently affixed...therefore a tf999 bellhousing would have to by some chance be the same bolt pattern as a ford bell housing. so if i want an automatic, i pretty much need to use a ford one right? i'm going to try to measure the C6 and TF999 to find out how far forward the motor would be pushed. a 302 should be shorter than a I6 4.2 right? my brain hurts
