Getting the Wheeling Fever
My buddy recently totaled his '91 4x4 truck with a 22re engine.(nobody was killed, thank God) I'm considering buying the engine to rebuild at my lesiure and put it in my carbed '84 22r 4x4 truck.

I know I'll need to use the exhaust manifold from the '91 (for the 'pear shaped' exhaust ports), but can I bolt my carbed intake to the '91 engine? I don't want to pull the EFI wiring harness and computer from his truck and deal with all those wires, etc..., yeah, I know that fuel injection is superior, just keepin' it simple.

Also, will the '91 engine mate up with my engine mounts and running gear with out mods?

It runs good he says, I don't know how many miles are on it, I'm guessing around 100K, what do you guys think is a fair price?

Might need to swap a couple intake mounting studs around, but everything else should be 100% bolt-on. Just keep in mind you'll need to order different parts in the future (internals) since your truck probably came with the older block.

I would also be interested in obtaining the fender-mounted parts in this article off that truck if he is so inclined.

Thanks for the link. I'm in Florida, you know....Are you gonna come down and pull the parts? The beach is nice, water is warm.
Seriously though, I'll ask, I don't yet know if he is going to part it out or keep it or what.

I was stationed at Eglin in the Panhandle before coming up here. I was with the Test Wing; did a LOT of time out at Holloman AFB, NM out of there.

It's warm up here without the heat index, and the fish are runnin'.

Thanks for askin' for me; just send a PM.

i am in the process of doing this swap.. except wiht a 94 22re into an 84 22r, u need the efi fuse, efi relay, starter relay, and circut opening relay, and cluth cancelswitch, ECU, also gas tank. and u need to know how to wire very good.. this is a hard swap i have come to find, not many people have done it. but mines almost running. i can hook u up wiht pin layouts, PM me or message me

also...most swaps u find for 22r to 22re are for 84-88engines the harness changed in 89
