Howdy All,
To my question as to the 24V 1995 3000cc 6G72 and replacement blocks for a Montero Yankneck replied:
>Easy fix... >89> Sigma >90> Stealth >90> Galant >90> 3000 GT
>Basically, ANY Mitsu from 89 up will plug right in there >with oil pan, oil pump setup (with filter boss), harmonic >balancer, timing covers, intake, exhaust & all front >accessories. -------------------- >Yankneck = Yankee ingenuity with Redneck stupidity. >"How can I break it better?" >89 Raider 3.0 w/ 31's for now
This is wrong. All of the 12V engines (and I've taken apart 2 and looked at half a dozen) have different water bosses and pumps. The oil passages are different as are the water passages and damed it if I'm going to make a custom head gasket. You can't just use them as a long block for the gen 3 fuel injected engines. This may also reflect on the Diamante Vs. 6G72 thread.
Rayman.

I thought the 95SRs had the double overhead cams. That's what I thought Was there ever a 24v 3.0L? I though ALL 3.0L Montero engines were 12V. 24V came with the DOHC 3.5L and then the SOHC 24V 3.5L that I have. Am I wrong? May be this is why you're having problems finding the right block. Do you heads have 2 valves per cylinder or 4?

95 and 96 LS's had a 24V SOHC 3.0. Maybe he has an LS like he was saying. Never seen a 95 SR with a 3.0 but manuals are rare too so maybe he has the 3.0 24V.

To clarify:
It is a 95 LS with a 6g72 24V (and yes I have 4 valves per cylinder) and a 5 speed manual. I't is a SOHC. I believe justice is correct in that they were only imported to the USA in 95' and 96' and 95' was the last year of the manual. However, I'm not sure if the later Montero Sport's had the same 3.0 engine. That was a 3.0 SOHC 24V as well to 1998 or later. I'm not sure.
