David Long posted his photos of a 302 Carb conversion in some posts back in April this year. Search under "V 8 conversion (Ford) 5.0" and you'll come up with the thread.

Thanks for the replies thus far. My tape measure suggested it was a no- go. That's why I asked. The Vortec raider project is way more involved than I am willing to do. At least on the Montero. I'm having a transmission shop swap the guts of the Montero 904 into the front part of a small block Mopar 904 case and keep the rest of the drivetrain in the stock location. That means no required body lift but I may want to do an inch for tires. Don't even need to do that for the 32 x 10.50's I have purchased.

Yes. the goofy pattern turns out to be the standard narrow pattern mitsu same as the manual. Differentn than the wide pattern of the overdrive automatics.

are you dropping a 318 in? I did a 360 into a D50 swap in 03-04. We used a 5 speed and the stock tcase. We ended up upgrading the tranny to a T5HD and the tcase to a NP231HDD. The biggest mods were the enging mounts and we moved the rad foreward 1.5". We also went to an electric fan and an external electric fuel pump and regulator. THe 360 puts down 381 ponies at the rear tire. It was built up a bit but not crazy. The engine builder was Shane Chapman of SGC engines.

I have a 318 already. I'm down for moving the radiator a couple inches but not the major surgery that the other V8 swap showed.

Yard out the radiator and condenser, then cut the upper radiator support.
If you have to move stuff too far forward, you can always consider a bumper upgrade as part of the swap.
