I made new tests with the pump connected to the fuel tank on front of the vehicle, it was able to dump 1 liter in 40 seconds, that's 1.5 liter/Min about 24 GPH, i just routed the mechanical fuel pump inlet and float bowl output line to a fuel container to keep flow and prevent damage, the accelerator pump line was left in it's place, i routed a hose directly from the electric fuel pump to the float bowl connector only with no regulator, no overflow happened, and the engine runs ok, even if you increase RPM's, when the engine is idling if you turn off the pump it takes about 90 seconds for the engine to shut down.

Need to make a new test with the electric pump completely installed and check the vehicle under load, can i keep the mechanical fuel pump with no fuel and use the vehicle for a while just for test purpose?

Maybe i can connect both output lines of the fuel pump to a "T" and a hose filled with fuel and connect it to the pump's intake so it works with some fuel.

I got this tip from a guy that works with engines of racing beetles to prevent carburetor flooding, you drill a hole on the side of the float bowl just a bit above the normal fuel level, screw a plug and connect a hose so overfilling fuel simply drops trough the hose to the ground, don't know if this can be done on the mikuni, i guess this is dangerous but maybe the same thing can be done but routing the hose somehow to return the fuel to the gas tank.

I have read on this site that you can add a pressure regulator and lower the pressure after you start a steep climb, i believe this one goes between the fuel pump and the float bowl, no regulator needed on the accel. Pump.

This is something i was told that can be done in a emergency but never tried it.
If you place a fuel container on the roof and route a large hose to the carburetor you can keep it working like a siphon.
anybody has tried this?

Just to be sure, this is the right setup for the mechanical pump?

I read an article about a guy who lost his fuel pump waaay out in the boonies. He siphoned gas into his washer fluid resevoir (after emptying), and ran a hose from there to the carb. He kept hitting the wash button, and made it home. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
My fuel pump went out on a Blazer that I had once. I used all the hose off the windshield washers to siphon gas from the tank into a milk jug. Then hooked the hose to a funnel that I wedged between the door panel and the window crank. Ran the other end to the carb. Then I had to pour gas into the funnel as I drove.
I had just finished siphoning gas from the tank for the third time. When a state patrol stopped to see if I needed any help. He looked at my set up, and said it looked like I had it under control. He followed me up to the top of the pass. Even stopped and waited for me to siphon a fourth gallon from the tank. Just as I aproached the crest, I ran out of gas to pour into the funnel. I put my hands in the air as the blazer started to chug. That is when the officer nudged up against my bumper with the push bar on his cruiser. He pushed me over the top. Then did a U turn to go help another stranded motorist.

Well on my way to becoming that eccentric old man in every town.(crazy as a s#@thouse rat) With a yard full of desireable old vehicles that tells you, Sorry they're not for sale..... Someday I'm going to fix them.

63 Valiant 225 slant 6. I'm 16yrs 0mo 23days. Fuel pump blew it's diaphragm just after, well that's a fireside story...

Had to get her home, or her OM would ground her forever, since it was the third time that week, and it would be heavy duty grounding, with no home visitation, either, and not even any phone. Given the facts in the above fireside story, "not late" became the GREAT HOLY MOTHER of invention. All the vac hose, plus all the washer hose, plus the vac powered windshield wiper hose. schrader valve from the spare. tire tool as a hole maker. bicycle pump. Pressurized fuel tank will push fuel uphill. I drove it for years afterwards with the rubber schrader valve base still in place in the hole in the fuel tank, sealed with a nail...
