Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey guys, I've been shopping urethane motor mounts for my 97 TJ and found these "torsion rubber" mounts. What is this torsion rubber and will it control the movement of the motor and drivetrain like the urethane? I need to reduce movement and don't mind it I get more vibration.

Howdy sweety. It is obvious you have never driven a vehicle without motor mounts! The stiffer the mounts are the more the vibration dampening is reduced. With solid steel mounts your ride would feel like sitting on your GF's vibrator! The stock ones when in good shape are fine. I see no reason to pay extra for aftermarket ones.

Big J

I'm looking at urethane because I keep cracking the header. I tend to be pretty hard on the old girl. The mounts I have are OE.

Body Damage is Cool
When I replaced the frame on my CJ7, I went with new motor mounts because the old ones (over 20 years old at the time), and used polyurethane ones. That was 8 or 9 years ago, and haven't had any problems.

I'm not sure that motor mounts is the cause of your headers cracking. Usually, that problem is related to having the exhaust system tied solidly to the frame somewhere, rather than having flexible exhaust system mounts.

I completely agree, but am at a loss of what to do the exhaust system hangs on the OE mounts, I've made no modifications. It's a problem that plaged the TJ from 97-99.
