My Tacoma runs fine once the engine starts. It is having several seconds of delay when I am trying to start it.

Any ideas? Is it the sparkplugs, battery or fuel pump? I don't think it is the fuel pump because if that is the case, it would still choke while driving.

Do you mean if you fail to crank it the first time and try to crank it again and it won't start? I had the same problem. It was about time to change the spark plugs and the wires so I decided to do those and change the battery out as well. Doing those things solved my problem. When was the last time you changed your plugs out?

I had the spark plugs changed April of 2006. The battery is still the manufacture battery which has been about 4.5 years now. I got a Diehard battery yesterday but have not put it in yet. The guy from Sears told me that it is the battery after he ran it through the test.

I'm having the same issue -- cranks for a long time before firing up. New plugs, wires, A/F sensor, air filter, battery; cleaned MAF, throttle body, all sensor & wiring harness connectors. Installed fuel pressure gauge -- FP within FSM specs for pressure and leakdown. Have used Seafoam both thru the PVC hose and in the fuel tank several times. Compression is w/in spec for all 6 cylinders

I think the only thing left is to remove the injectors and have them professionally cleaned.

Other than that, I've exhausted all my "good ideas." Frustrating.

Turns out to be the battery. Put the new one in yesterday and everything is fine now.

Thank You
