Wondering if anyone has performed a 3.8L swap in a 2nd gen Isuzu Trooper. Wondering if the motor will bolt to the trans. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! Gary

Gary The 3.2/3.5 has a dual bellhousing bolt pattern on it. One of those is the 60 deg GM V6 pattern. If you have an automatic, then it has the 60 deg bell & will bolt up to a 3800 motor. You'll have to work out the converter/flexplate interface issues, if any. Here's my 3800 SC motor swap. --Dan

Houlster's motor was out of a 2002 Gran Prix, which I believe is a FWD. Read the link, then come back with questions. Doing your research one questions/answer at a time is not time effective.

If I'm not mistaken a 3800 v6 uses an entirely different ecu did you also tear that from the pontiac. Plz pardon my ignorance asked the first question beccause after the amigo became the rodeo sport some of the engine/tranmission fits changeand you see mine is an 02 RS. Has haulster finished the swap yet? How does it run?

WHEN you read Dan's write-up, you will see that he did a custom Mega-squirt ecu that he programmed.
While the tranny to engine mate up is important, it is a part of a much bigger picture.

Has haulster finished the swap yet? How does it run? Dan has finished his 3800SC swap, and has several years on it. It runs strong, but it is a good bit slower off the roll than an Amigo with a 302. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> Randii
