I am looking at a used carb to rebuild for my truck. The current carb tag is 35290, the one I have found is 35291. Does anyone know what the difference between these two carbs is?

Probably nothing you could find if you looked for it. It'll swap over just fine.

Take a look at the passenger's side of the carb and compare the hose ports. Some of the earlier ones have no additional port for the HAC. If you don't have one, it's not a driveability issue.
One of the nice indicators about a tag still even BEING on the carb is that it's an original; ie no rebuild.
I understand there is a slight difference between the carbs put on trucks vs. Celicas; Arbitrary Notion here should know; he used to be quite the rebuilder of these carbs while he was in college. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Margie The numbers on the tag really aren't important. The only place I've ever seen them referenced on is the rebuild instructions form. Great thing about these carbs is what is see is what you get. Just look and make sure the vac lines match up. Make sure the choke places and linkages look the same. There are problably 20 or so different models of carbs lumped into 2 main categorys. celica vs. truck For some reason the celica ones don't have a secondary linkage to the choke plate. They have a round hole in the choke plate. I was never able to get one of those carbs to run on a truck until I gave up and removed the choke plate. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" /> Good luck and let us know how it goes. Thanks for the info, I can see no physical difference between the two, guess I will start tearing it down after work. Then see how it swaps over.

The tag numbers are important if you're going to rebuild a carb. A good parts store should ask for that number to get you the correct kit. If they don't ask, you're getting a generic kit, not one more specific to your carb.
