Getting the Wheeling Fever
94 4-Runner 3.0L Auto Tranny One day last week I went to start this unit & got 1 click out of it when trying to engage the starter. I tried it 1 more time & it started normal. It started doing it again a few days later & is getting worse. I see a starter relay in the fuse compartment under the hood, are these relays known to go bad?

sounds like solenoid contacts. It gets worse and finaly when your on flat ground and alone it goes completly out.I think 4crawler sales them on his site.Whatever you do dont replace your original starter with autozone, pepboys, oriely etc...rebuilt in china, mexico lifetime warranty p.o.s. Fix the one you have if you want it to last.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I had the same problem with mine. Had to replace it. Eventually it got so bad that I would have to get out and bang on it with a hammer to get it to turn over. It gets worse with the heat. If I remember right it has something to do with contacts. I've been through 2 advanced auto parts starters for the same problem in 2 years. If you can rebuild your old one.

Perform a simple voltage check to help isolate the source of the problem:
