I've got an 86 4runner with a freshly rebuilt 22RE. It currently has a G series transmission in it that works but is screaming loudly for a rebuild so I need to do something else. I would love to find a R151F for that little extra bit of strength, but so far they look to be scarce and pricey. In my looking around I happened to notice that the W59 is also a 23 spline output, and with a Marlin adapter can work with a gear drive transfercase. Does that sound like a reasonable substitute if I'm only ever going to have a 22RE or maybe years away a 3RZ?
Thanks, Ron

Yes the W56 will bolt right to a 21 spline gear drive t-case. I want to upgrade to a 23 spline for a little extra strength. The W59 is a 23 spline output but doesn't from the factory bolt to a 23 spline gear drive t-case. So you need the Marlin taco gear drive adapter as far as I've figured out so far. I'm still in the research phase here so if I'm mistaken someone please tell me...
Thanks, Ron

I'm only bringing this back to correct myself and hopefully avoid confusing others...
The W59 is actually a 27 spline output, but marlincrawlers adapter will convert it to 23 spline to work with a gear drive t/c. I'm not sure how that impacts it's strength... I'm starting to think I really just need to save my pennies and get a R151F if I'm gonna do 23 spline...
