Trailing arms in the way -- options?

My trailing arms were hit several times on my last trip and are very obviously in the way (more so than the gas tank). As I understand it they are a result of the suspension lift by the truck's previous owner. But this can't be the standard. I've searched for "curved trailing arms", "angled trailing arms" and more with not much luck. Can you please give me some suggestions on where to look and what my options are?
