check your bushings for wear and tear. replace the old worn sloppy ones with new. Make sure the lift is done right. If it was a kit lift (ie OME, skyjacker etc.) make sure all the parts are there. You can usually get a copy of the parts and installation guide from a local kit dealer. If its a homebuilt lift, replace it. If you cannot find fault, but are still worried take it to a trusted pro, or someone who knows their stuff and get them to look at it. If you are still unsure replace the kit or remove it.

I know when I have my sway bar disconnected and my tires air down my lift sways a lot. So that is where I would start. See if there is a sway bar and if it is connected and check your air tire. If all that is good then check your bushings. Unless the kit is worn out or incorrectly installed it should not sway much.

no it shouldnt sway much at all, infact it should ride hard as hell with a lift, well not that hard but a lot harder then a caddy, id check the swaybar first then move on the bushings

Shocks still good? I've blown out new Skyjackers in less than a year on my Yoda. Miles of washboard wore them out quick.
Some sway is normal especilly with a lift but it shouldn't bounce if you jump up and down on the bumper.
My XJ used to sway pretty bad on highway off ramps before we replaced the stocks springs and put in some OME nitro shocks.
Nice and firm now, very little sway and no bounce.

Tnx for all the info....really good stuff. I have 33" mudders as well. I'm assuming that causes difficulties with getting over 65 when trying to fuse with highway folks...have a V6 with 4 liter engine....just curious.

I have a 85 CJ7 with an inline six and 33s and have no problem merging with traffic and cruising at 70-75 on the highway. So, what gears do you have in there. 2.73 probably

To determine your gear ratio... Jack up one rear wheel. Put tranny in neutral. Mark the wheel with chalk or something and mark the driveshaft also. Now turn the wheel ONE TIME EXACTLY. While the wheel is turning the driveshaft will turn also... You must count the turns and partial turns of the driveshaft. One turn of the wheel will make the driveshaft turn...4.1 times == 4:11 gear 3.5 times === 3.54 gear. A little over 3 times ===3.07 gear 3-3/4 times === 3.73 gear. It may take two people to do this and you may want to do it a few times to make sure.. It is accurate!! Big JIm
