THE TRUCK:
4runner with 22re. I have a complete rebuilt engine and am confused about the exhaust? I have piping that is 1.5" all the way back. I have a new magnaflow cat and a flowmaster 44 on its way.

THE ISSUE:
I have stock pipes that are 1.5" and smaller do to the fact they used a pipe bender to make them(see pic). I want to take these back and have good pipes bent up to 2" and 2.25".

THE QUESTIONS:
1. I have called around to several shops and nobody does muffler work. They just install stock. One shop said they could bend pipe and would charge for material and 70hr labor. How long should it take to match up the old pipes, I will do the install. Where do I go?
2. If the exit on the exhaust manifold is 1.5" wouldn't that be a problem to go into 2" pipes? (see pic)
3. The pipe that goes from the Manifold to the cat has a custom fit to the manifold. Do I have a shop make this and pay through the nose or is there a way I can get these parts to make it myself, parts being the backet that bolts to the manifold and the splitter pipe. (see pic)

Might consider a header, I installed an LC Engr. header and it has 2" tubing from the collector back to the cat:

I then made up my own cat-back exhaust, cutting off the stock pipe after the post-cat bend and using sections of straight and flexible s/s tubing:

Or just keep the stock downpipe and go bigger after the cat. I did that initially and it seemed to work fine.

Confused... Stock is not 1.5" and smaller. How are you measuring? Internal or external diameter? Always measure the external diameter of the TUBE. Should be 2.0", IIRC.

What do you want? Stock or after market? That rate is about right. Should run you about $150 to have the 2.25" made w/ you supplying the muffler. Now - some shops may not be happy with you supplying components as they make money off of the markup.

You're measuring wrong. There are two ports there - two cylinders each. Ignore that. You're only concerned about what is after the collector.

What's wrong with the one that you have? Use the stock one and run custom back from there.

Here is my the diameter, roughly 1.5" there are bends in it that decrease this more.

Yep, I recall my factory pipes were roughly 1-1/2" ID and 1-5/8" OD. For the first upgrade, I just used a 1-5/8" to 2" adapter behind the cat and ran 2" pipe back to the tail pipe.

Well.......what do ya think I should do? For now I still have work on the engine and if I cant find out how to do this without spending more $$$$ then the 1.5 stock goes in.

only worry about the exhaust from the collector back... The stock 4 into 2 into 1 design is pretty decent (not great), so only mess with the area after the 2 into 1 collector. I'd go 2.25" all the way back. You can either have it custom done as you've noted or purchase something from Downey, Performance Products or any of the other companies out there that sell Toyota products.

So my exhaust should go ENGINE/STOCK EXHAUST MANIFOLD/STOCK 2 TO 1 COLLECTOR 1.5"/MAGNAFLOW CAT/CUSTOM PIPE 2.25"/FLOWMASTER 44 MUFFLER/CUSTOM PIPE 2.25"
