Engine Swap Ideas? How about a Probe/Mazda MX6 2.2 Turbo. The two biggest problems would be The probe intake points to the Sportage fire wall, and finding a place for the inner cooler. My boy is running a 2.0 Sportage engine with a 2.2 Probe crank in his 89 Probe. He is using a FE3 intake from Japan instead of the Sportage intake and custom pistons. He is still waiting for a new radiator to start braking it in. When (or if) I have to rebuild the Sporgage engine I plan on using a Probe crank if the flywheel bolt patterns match. The 2.2 Probes have lots of bottom end torque which the Sportage is lacking.
