this is a Kia Sportage Automatic Transmission.

this is a GV auto tranny.

there does seem to be some similarities, minus the bolt flange on the bellhousing. and it does seem that the bellhousing might be removable and if not, then the tranny can be separated shortly after the bellhousing and the front switched as long as the bolt pattern matches and the internals are the same. that is, if, in fact, it is the same tranny. looks mean nothing until you get them side-by-side.

***edit- and i didn't even look at the tail housing/t-case adapter. it looks way different, but i know the Kia one is removable, just not sure how the rear end of the GV tranny looks as far as bolt pattern and all that.

tim, you might have gotten this one right.

now, if this is true, that means we might be able to use all the tracker/sammy adapter junk from OTT and others to run different cases/ratios/etc. if i had the cash, i'd buy the stuff and do the research, but i don't. in fact, if i can get a vouch for how strong the t-cases may be, i might go this route, myself, instead of building a one-off doubler from scratch.... anybody need a spare Kia t-case?

*******edit- one more edit- just looked at the OTT site and apparently, there isn't anything yet for mating the GV tranny to any of the existing t-cases that have options, but i'm pretty sure there are low gears for the GV t-case, just not sure about doublers.

will keep checking.
