that would be fine and dandy had i not already searched so long and hard for a passenger side d44.....

Yeah, they ain't growing on trees. but sometimes you do find trees growing thru them.

BTW - One of the Hyunkay 4x4s has the same exact drivetrain as the Kia, mainly because they are almost one and the same.

What???!!! You obviously didn't read this entire thread. After I intervened and told everyone to be civil this has been a great tech exchange. Where do you get off coming in here and trying to stir things up again?

Yea, so what? It wouldn't be any different if he was 1000 miles away or lived right next door. I grant no special favors. And to imply that I do really pisses me off. I strongly suggest that if you have no tech to add to this thread that you don't post.

Funny, Pirate, along with Zook boards, is where much of this stuff is coming from. Dave is an avid Pirate and will prolly agree that a lot of strong, avante garde tech comes from there.

But, to each his own. I think I'll stay here and, with some other liked-minded, try to push the envelope on the Sportage.

and thank you for doing so.

not sure, but i think someone missed what happened in the middle here.

hydra's a good guy, so, we'll see, i guess.

and yes, pirate is a great tool for looking deeper into things, like interchangability.

not sure if this adds anything or not, looks like the Sorento tranny, but may just be an unusable version of the Sportage tranny:

Other than the guts of an auto tranny absolutely frighten me, I wonder if the output shafts between all the trannies we've been pondering can be swapped? If so,hmmmm, endless possibilities.

I took apart a VW microbus auto once. I had more parts than i could even count. Very, very scary.
