Today I looked at 3 Diamante engines in the junkyard.

1) 3.0L 24v DOHC - no interest - don't want a low mount alternator in an off-road truck.

2) 3.0L 12v SOHC sedan - one rusted cam - no interest

3) 3.0L 12v SOHC station wagon - has the knock sensor mounting plate w/sensor - made a deal for $350, but then asked them to look up the interchange on the sedan and station wagon, since car-part.com lists the engines as "non-interchange".

Their answers were a bit muddy, but I did hear that there is either a difference in the cams between the '92 Diamante engines and the '93-'95 - or - there is a difference in the station wagon and sedan cams.

Does anyone have any information on this? I'd like to buy the engine just for the block and cams, but I don't want to pay $350 and have to also buy cams.

I'm already thinking I should pass because this engine isn't the original one that came in the wagon - it's marked with the name of another nearby junkyard, so there's no telling what it might be - but the station wagon/sedan and '92/'93-'95 questions remain if I find another choice.
