Charlie is indicating there may be a difference between Australian and Japanese production wrt CR and cams. I think he may be on to something. I found a Diamante forum that contains some info on the sedan/wagon production origins:

Quote
The 1G Ds other than the wagon came from Mitsubishi's Oye plant in Nagoya, Japan, not Australia.

That plant was first constructed in 1920 and closed down in 2001, then sold to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries at the end of 2004, incidentally. It is now part of the Nagoya Aerospace Systems Works, I believe.

For example, of the 10,335 Diamantes sold in the United States in 1995, 9061 were made in Nagoya (the sedans), and 1,274 were made in Australia (the wagons).

In 1996, the last year the first-gen was sold in the USA (although it was actually the last of the 1995 production run), 1,597 Diamantes came from Nagoya and 1,121 from Australia.

The wagons sold in Japan were also made in Australia, incidentally (I believe this applies to *both* the 1G and 2G wagons, the latter of which was never sold in the USA).

I'm guessing that only the Japanese produced sedans have the more aggressive cams and 10:1 CR.
