Mid 80's.

Narrow Track Drivers side drop. All of the later model Wagoneers had 44's in the front, but some are drivers drop, and some are pass. Some also have a goofy growth looking apendage on them, and that is a central axle disconnect. you do not want this.

I have not done this and have not seen a truck in person. If you do find one of these donors try to get everything you can from the front of that truck that you can. Such as springs and steering linkage. Might not be a bad idea to grab the front driveshaft as well.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Sorry to keep asking questions but just for clarification in the mid 80's there was the Jeep Grand Wagoneer (Full size) and the Jeep Cherokee Wagoneer (Mid-size). When you refer to narrow track drivers do you mean the Jeep Cherokee (Mid-size)Wagoneer? I don't want to buy the wrong axel, thanks for your help.

I believe the axle is about 58" wms to wms. I don't have my axles here with me so I can't measure them.

Edit: Here's a web page with all the D44 info you'll need, I think.

The front axle is 60 inches, and the rear is a tad more narrow.

Cherokee's have 5 lug Dana 30's in the front which you DO NOT want.

This is all old info that has been posted before.

I think he was referring to the "ZJ" Wagoneer which was based on the XJ body not the actual Cherokee. The web page I linked to has detailed info IRT all D44s.

I'm not debating the fact that all this has been discussed before. Ad nauseum...

So most (all) of the conversions discussed here are leaf spring installs correct? If so, a six inch lift would seem possible. Also, what does SAS stand for? I looked at the archives under SAS but the info did not seem to be what I was looking for.I was hoping for more technical, install info, maybe some pics....

Solid Axle Swap

READ the link I JUST posted. There are 3 links in there that I personally posted, and MRBishi posted several of his also. ALMOST anything you could want to know about this subject. It's all there.

MR bishi did a coil spring sas on his truck.

6 inches of lift is easy to get with a sas.

Going coil over here. Unfortunately I'm welding stupid and for the sake of safety am leaving my swap to the expert. Mine has/is costing me an arm and a leg. I'm really excited to get it back, and I still won't have to make payments on it.
