Here's one I built.

Off-road Trailer

Not a lot of text yet, but some. The pics are in order, so that helps, too.

You go to a place like Photobucket.com and put your photos in there.. Then when you want to show one of them here you follow the instructions on the "image" question.

Box length is 59 inches, width is 50 inches, height is 41 inches the width across the fender/gas rack is 74 inches and the distance from the front of the box to the end of the pintle ring is 32 inches. The last picture is a few weeks ago before the fenders were modified. It rides on 35 BFG,s and has the same rims as the CJ and the axle is a torsion spring so it has a low profile and doesn,t get hung up on rocks.

84 CJ7 304 HEI 35 BFG,s rear dana 60 with detroit locker,Viar compressor, fibreglass body, 2 1/2 spring lift, TF999auto, Warn 8000 winch, Plus a cool little trailer on 35,s. JEEP stands for just empty every pocket

That torsion axle was a great idea! You got all the goody out of the departure angle.. Real good engineering.

cool trailer how does it tow though it seems with the tires that far back it puts a lot of weight on the jeep itself. Do you find this to be a problem. And what type of axle did you use under there under mine I used an axle from a minivan the front one. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

The axle is a torsion spring type, it has a heavy coil wound around it at each wheel so it acts almost like independant suspension. As for the weight, I load the heavier items at the back over the wheels and the trailer has a bit of a downward stance when hooked up [ the front is a bit higher than the rear] so the tongue weight is around 60 lbs, the CJ has 2 and 1/2 lift Rancho springs that are quite stiff so the loaded trailer actually improves the ride a bit.

I installed some Air Lift air bags inside my rear coils to give me that lift while i'm loaded for a trip. I used this site as a guide:

Need a Spot
I have been lost in a deluge of crap from the business for a month now. But I have to support my off-roading habit somehow. There is a great deal of good info here and I am going to put some to test asap. Spring is coming and thatÆs when we take off again.

We use to use a trailer, when we had the CJ. And found it cumbersome. However, it didnÆt look anything like That pseudo-military trailer I just looked at. Real niceà RingàGreat Idea. I have a 3ö angle-iron generator trailer I may be able to put to use. I just knew someone was putting air bladders together for Off-Roaders. Thanks a bunch.

We were in Utah, Zion country, A nice ranger pulls us over for doing 65 in a 55. Fact is with my weight I havenÆt seen 60 since I left Florida. With all the particulars over we asked where a nice campsite maybe near a watering hole. I had to throw a make-shift grappling hook between two rocks to keep us from sliding down this gravel pit and use the winch to get us up this wash. A trailer would have perhaps made things awarkward.

On the other hand a trailer deck would be a great place to set up a shower. Rather than standing in mud, or balancing on a rock. We use a 12v bilge pump we just throw into a seep or if were lucky a stream.

You know, You just donÆt know whatÆs around the next trail. And you donÆt want to miss any opportunity to explore.

By the way we want to get into the old mining areas of the Northwest. Anyone have any knowledge out thereà..Thanks Again
