I searched the site for a fix but did not see one... So here is what I found out. The problem was that when the parking brake was released somtimes the dash indicator would turn off. Sometimes it would not turn off. After wasting some time looking for a problem with the parking brake switch, I decided to check a wiring diagram. Turns out that the dash brake lite is also wired to the brake fluid level switch on the resevoir. The connector for this switch is near/under the windshield wiper fluid resevoir. Pulling this connector apart revielded lots of corrosion. Probably from winshield wiper cleaner. I cleaned up the corrosion in the connector and Bah Da Bing flakey brake indicator lite problem was resolved. Note to myself! Always look at a wiring diagram first.

Should've asked about this. I could have pointed you in the right direction without the wiring diagram. But, I'm sure you earned some invaluable knowledge in your experience <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Good Job <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Float inside the brake fluid reservoir gets hung up on it's pivot, too, or held down by a wrinkle in the rubber bellows in the cap if somebody doesn't straighten it up right before reinstall (top up the fluid, then tuck the bellows back up into the cap with all the folds right before you screw it on). It follows the dropping fluid level, isolating the fluid from atmo water vapor which the fluid will suck up like a tick, then when the fluid gets hot enough (like in the caliper), the water boils, and the steam bubbles kill ALL the brake pressure, and you whambo whatever gets in your way, quite hard...

If it is the same concept for a 95 then locate the brake fluid resevoir. Note any wires coming out of the resevoir. The wires would be from the brake fluid switch. Follow the wires to the connector. The connector could be the problem. Also you coud take off the cap of the brake resevoir and move the float in the fluid. That could move or excercise the fluid switch enough to clean the contacts.
