Getting the Wheeling Fever
So this rig has about 240k on it and runs good for the most part until recently. It dies for no reason when accelerating. Like the tach shuts off and there is no power. Used to do it over big bumps on paved roads. Now its bad when I try and pull out onto a main street. It just bucks then finally it runs back to normal. I have taken it to a shop but it never happens when they drive it. I have no idea what it could be. And it is a 5 spd. Anyone know?

Thanks I will try that. If that does not work, any other suggestions? Any problematic electrical components like a coil maybe? The heat from that engine where the coil is located cannot be all that good for it.

Yeah the coil is prolly next. If it's got 40K or more on it I'd be putting another one on there anyway.
BUT don't change them both at the same time!!! One at a time to see what was really wrong with the Jeep.

My '93 2.5L was doing this about 1 year ago. After I changed out about $200+ in parts for fuel/spark it was still doing it. Decided to check the computer for any trouble codes (never threw the light <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> ) and got codes for the O2 and intake air temp sensors. Swapped them out and all is well with the world.
