ok.. Got timing belt covers off right now..Looking at the belt(not in bad shape for 94,000) but im looking at the pully on the botttom and there is a safty guide washer..Can get belt off without removing this..How do you remove this? Also my engine isnt at the right marke..I and e arent where they sposed to be.do i turn engine by hand to these points belt in tact or do i take belt off and turn one at a time? Or do i count teeth and mark on old belt then transfer to new belt and put belt on that way ?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Some info for you from different sources.

When you put in the new belt, remember how the cam pulleys are lettered so you remember which letters align upward and check the crankshaft so the mark is pointing upward as well. The left part of the belt is placed on first. When placing the left side, you will need for someone to hold the cams in place with two 17mm wrenches so they don't move. You will need to twitch the left cam when putting in the belt or it will end up loose. By twitching I mean, play with it. Just make sure they don't jump when you press the belt in. I did it on my own, but had to try it about 6 times. To hold the right cam from moving, I used a pressure plier and held it against the back plate while I fitted the left side.

loosen the tensioner, use a screwdriver or prybar and pry it back then tighten it in the back position, after the belt is in place and all marks are lined up then loosen the adjuster bolt and it should spring back to tighten belt, tighten the bolt and check the deflection loosen and use screw driver to apply pressure to the tensioner until deflection is correct, tighten tensioner and rotate engine 2 times and recheck the alignement marks

The entire clutch fan mount must be removed as well as the
cooling system drained and the thermostat housing removed. The radiator
can stay in place but it's easier if you remove it.

One other "gotcha". Crank pulley removal. There are 6 - 10 mm bolts that
hold it in place. You do NOT need to remove the 22 mm center bolt. If the
crank pulley doesn't come off tap it with a block of wood and a hammer. It
should drop off.

If you have high mileage (say greater than 80K miles or so) you should
consider doing the water pump too if you need to replace the belt.
If you are going to replace it get a GENUINE Kia water pump from a dealer.
Don't go aftermarket. Aftermarket water pumps may in fact be for the
SOHC engine and it will fit but destroy the new timing belt.

But you should replace the following since you are gonna be in there:

The belt tensioner pulley.
The belt tensioner spring.
And if you have in excess of 80K miles or so, the water pump and
gasket: use a genuine Kia factory water pump.

The KIA online service manual also has pics and information.

Need a Spot
If you don't have a pressure plier you can also use plain old c-clamps. I've used them before and they work fine.
