I was in a wreck today.My rear pas. wheel took the brunt of the hit,I think the axel is bent.Can these be repaired or straightened out

thanks,I cant see any damage to anything outside,the wheel sits about 3/4" further back than it should.it drives ok .any good way to check the housing?

Lift the tire in the air and spin it. If it wobbles, the axle is bent. If it is only shifted, my guess is a sheared off center pin and the axle and u-bolts slid off center of the springs.

Like Roger said, check the center pin in the spring. They are designed to shear on hard impact. If that is what it is, replace and torque the U-bolts down on both sides to 90 ft lbs.

Im pretty sure my housing is bent.Anybody know where I can get another one.I just bought an 86 single cab with efi,but hate to tear it apart cause it runs good and only has 160k on it.MAN THIS SUCKS <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> it was a hit and run to top it off.it looks like the bend is in the very end of the housing ,theres no wobble when I spin the tire.the rear of my wheel sits 3/4" closer to the spring than the front.looks like the spring is bent too.the pin doesnt look to be sheered
