Yikes!! Don't use brake clean; that stuff will attack and melt many kinds of plastics. It is very harsh stuff. Your local autozone, checker/schuck's/kragen, car quest, parts plus, napa, etc. will have electrical parts cleaner (aerosol in a can that looks similar to brake clean) that will do the job safely.
