Check our Toyota section in the header above. We also have an FSM sticky'd in the early trucks section. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />

Have you ever done a clutch before? If so, it's pretty straightforward. There are a few tricks, like packing the pilot bearing with grease, and fitting a bolt or metal rod in the center that it fits tight, and then hitting it with a hammer. This forces the grease out and pops the bearing out.

Rent a good tranny jack, and ratchet strap the trans to the jack.

Get a LONG (20" at least) extension, plus a few other various length extensions. And get a swivel socket adapter (Harbor Freight sells a set cheap) NOT a ujoint (the swivel limits travel, wont bind)

You should inspect and possibly get the flywheel resurfaced by a machine shop during the clutch replacement. When you take the flywheel off, inspect and possibly replace the rear main seal if it leaks at all (might even be a good idea to replace it even if it doesnt leak. )

Get a factory Asco clutch. They are around 120 at www.jtoutfitters.com call and specifically ask for an asco

Great info except for this, it should read "You must get the flywheel resurfaced" Always have a flywheel resurfaced when you install a new clutch. I did not take my own advice once and was pulling the tranny the next weekend because of clutch chatter.

Call the machine shop and see what their lag time is before you start. I'd prefer to know the one I got is properly done, rather than have an untouched one show up in the box.
