I should have added that you don't need to even take off the differential inspection cover to pull the axles. On an isuzu Dana 44 the axle is not c-clip retained. You should be able to take it out, easy or not, after you remove the brake caliper, rotor, and 4 backing plate bolts. its the backing plate bolts that hold it in. Not anything in the differential.
