For value best to go with www.engnbldr.com and Ted has awesome support as well, search the forums for DOA and LCE views, as theyre been spoken about alot, but Ted from EB made a post a few months back about how to make a reliable 140hp 22re... just look it up (might be in the toyota tech section)...

Good luck!

Dont even bother with DOA, they are for lack of better words: jerk offs..

Tim (DOA) has been pretty good about product support with me and has been building 22r series motors for a long time.
I've got one of his heads which flow tests very well and has put up with substantial "owner" abuse.

His stuff isn't inexpensive. Neither is LCs.

It depends on what you want. If you want a reliable turn key motor - all three vendors can provide it. You get to determine if it's worth $X for Y hp.. It gets exponentially more expensive as you go up the scale and there are some very real limits to hp with factory EFI.

The best bang for the buck is to find a good machinist, take your time, and rebuilt it yourself. If you need a drop in replacement that's higher hp than stock, you're talking about a starting price of about $2k and it goes up from there...

Support your local machine shop and strip down your long block for them. At least that way you can lean on the counter if something is messed up.

I know of which I speak, and you can get it done cheaply enough where you're at. Get in the Yellow Pages.
