Ok.. I just put the new rancho 9000s on the sport. Going from the old 9000s,a word about the shocks. They are huge. They completely redesigned them and now they are nitrogen filled. The tubes and shafts are ways bigger. The rear fit fine but the two fronts are really close. I would say I have about 1/8 inch clearance with the driver stub axle. We checked it at full lock and extension for both ways and it stays the same. If there is going to be any rub it would just be the paint. We will see how they do after the trip.

As for ride, they are silky smooth. The original shocks had 5 positions of adjustments and these new ones have 9! I set them up at 5 at first, from 1 being softest and 9 firmest, and it rode like a caddy but since I have no sway bars front or rear I bumped them up to 7. It stiffened the ride a bit but took out alot of the body roll. I'll have to test them out further and see whats best.

I'll post pics on monday.

Did those lines going to the shocks ever get kinked up or do you have to get out and do it manually? Was it hard to install. I always wanted to look into those shocks. Let us know how they go,

you adjust them with a knob on the shock.

the 9000RCX kit has a compressor with associated tubing and gauges that can be pneumatically adjusted from the cab.

I installed those on a '95 Surburban and used 2 compressors so the front and rear could be independant of each other.

They worked ok at first, but it didn't take long for air leaks to develop and I could never stop the leaking.... the plastic connections with hard nylon tubing/o-ring seals just didn't cut it.

I also didn't care much for the ride control.

The new 9000 is a different design, so maybe they're improved - I sure hope so.

Frank

I don't have the remote option installed. The reason is the leaks it gets or can get. From the history, I don't trust them. Mine are manually done at the shock. This is the web linked pic. I'll get my pic up tomorrow.

but why 9 positions, like you are gonna tell the difference between 4 and 5. They should have kept it to a max of 5. The factory absorbers from Mitsu had 3 and that was plenty for me... God I miss those shocks, rode like a dream!!!

Do you have any trouble getting to that adjusting knob?

Since I put the 6 inch lift leafs in the rear. Before Uwharrie last year.

It seems silly that I can swap a totally different front axle in my truck in a month, and it takes me a year to research out some simple shocks.
