Getting the Wheeling Fever
Haven't had a chance to look closely at either the IMG or the fuel pressure reg., always on the go.
BTW it's a 3.2 V6 and from what I've been able to find out it's a real b*tch to get to.
So, from the replies I've gotten, it's been narrowed down to the ING or fuel reg., would these be the most common areas for the problems I'm having?

OK, finally got a chance to look at this thing.
If I'm looking at the fuel pressure regulator, it looks like it has 2 vacuum lines connected to it and a electrical connection right next to the vacuum connections. Am I looking at the right thing? If so, which vacuum line do I disconnect to test it?
It is againt the firewall but on the drivers side of the engine. Also looks like it is held on by a bracket that is bolted on with hex head bolts.
Again, it is a 3.2 V6,

sounds like you are talking about the egr valve.
the fuel pressure regulator has two fuel hoses, and attaches to the fuel rail, the thing that supplies the fuel injectors. and it has a vacuum attachment as well,

since you apparently don't have a workshop manual, go to the isuzu online parts site, and find the parts illustration.

No I don't have a shop manual, wish I did.
Think I found the right vacuum connection. It's on the other side of the 2 I mentioned and faces toward the passenger side.
I pulled off the vacuum hose and turned the ignition to "on". No fuel blew out.
Should I have actually started the engine?

BTW - The EGR valve is against the firewall on the passenger side no?

Did I test the fuel pressure reg properly by just turning the ignition to "on"? Or should I remove the vacuum line and try to start it? Maybe it won't even start with the vacuum line removed.

I removed the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator again to replace it with new hose. It was dried out and starting to crack.
The engine was warm when I removed the hose from the vacuum fitting and the hose was kinda wet inside from gas.
Would this be a normal condition?

it is normal for a failed fuel pressure regulator and you need to replace it with a new one. congratulations on tracking it down

trooperbc - thanks for the reply.
I get a little technically challenged at times. From what I've read, it is not to difficult to change, so will give it a go.
Thanks again.
