Mike, I'm not sure where that charge light relay is at; was helping someone in the back room on that for his 81.
On the B+ line; it goes across from the main fuse box via the core support wire bundle. There's a little black plastic box on the driver's fender; it's a terminal lug; from there it goes to the B+ on the alternator harness. This is set up this way to allow you to remove the alternator harness without tearing the rest of it down.
Also inspect the wire harness at the plug; these older rigs start experiencing insulation failure; don't want to be smoke checkin' anything! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />
