So, this weekend I pull the Trooper into a dirt area next to a lake and decide that I should lock in the "new" AISIN hubs and see if they work. I really didn't need to, but you know how it is, you put something new on and you look for any excuse to test it out. So, anyway, I'm cruising along on some dirt trails next to this lake when I hear this huge BANG, followed by sounds of smacking and beating and general chaos coming out from under my ride. I stopped, shifted out of 4 wheel drive and moved, no banging, and now my clutch doesn't feel like its working all that well. Shifted back in, banging starts again. I figure "Great, I broke a half-shaft, but that the heck is wrong with my clutch?" I manage to limp it (in two wheel drive now) near the man road and get out to look. It wasnÆt the half shaft. It looks like my front u-joint let go, and the extra loud banging was it beating my bell-housing. The whole lower portion of the housing is in little chunks. The reason my clutch felt funny is because my slave cylinder is just hanging there because the aluminum it would normally bolt to is gone. I managed to get the car home, which was quite an experience to drive through town with no clutch, and in my frustration I didnÆt think to pull my front driveline out, so half of it fell off on the road somewhere.
Whew!!
Anyway, can I just replace the bell-housing on the tranny? Anybody know where I can find one laying around for cheap? Also, any of you have any extra front drive shafts laying around after a solid axle swap or anything?
I tried the search feature on the FOR SALE section, but there doesn't seem to be too many people selling Isuzu bell housings.
Any way, thanks. If I think of it tonight, I'll take a few pics of the carnage.

Body Damage is Cool
If yours is an auto, you can replace just the bellhousing. If it is a manual, the bellhousing is integral with the tranny/t-case.

That is extremely bad luck if your front drive shaft took out your bellhousing <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />.

Good luck on your repairs.

Brian, I've got a front shaft off of a 2.6 with an auto. By your sig, I see a 60* v6 right? I know matt at indy4x has a good bell housing on a 2.6 tranny that I just gave him but it won't work if you've got the v6.
