Getting the Wheeling Fever

Well i just picked up this pretty decent montero for 400 bucks. Its an 86 5spd has aisin hubs and it has a prblem with flooding itself and running rough.if u disconnect the fuel line from the carb u can get it to start and if u squirt gas into it it will stay running but when u hook the gas back in it floods out. These carbs are crazy looking any help?

Welcome !
21 year old carb...www.fcproducts.com. The carb is easy to replace IF you mark all the vac lines and take some digital shots.
Your other option if you don't have emission testing is the Weber Carb.
Make sure you use the search function, as there are a lot of great posts on the carb issue.

After you read chapter 14 of the factory manual a few times you will feel better <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Just make sure that if you R&R the carb (regardless of what you replace it with) that you ensure the mating surfaces of the carb and the intake manifold are pristinely cleaned of all the old gasket material and smooth. Any leaks there will translate to more problems afterward.

if you do not have any emissions testing I would seriously consider buying a weber. it makes your engine from having 1,000,000 vacuum lines into only 1. and its so simple to install. tuning them properly takes some time but once its set right you will love it!

Word is, the Weber won't pass.

will the 87-89 manual work for my 86? Also i heard that a 1986 - 1993 B2600 and Mighty Max carb would fit my motor is there any truth to this?
