dose the first generation have the same firewall problems as 2nd generation solid axel trucks

What? In terms of the clutch bracket, or ?? Clutch brackets on these rigs have been known to crack or break, most times due to a heavy foot/serious clutch work. I don't think these were gusseted like some of the mid-80s Ferds were; that was a TSB for those.

sorry wasent verry descriptive im refering to the fire wall and oversized tires hiting them I know the 2nd gen. trucks do & I am in the prosses of doing the firewall tubing on my 84. my budy has an 82 and he was wonderin if he was going to have to do the same thing to his when he gets his lift I run 35s and he plans on running the same

The wheelwell arch is a little different on the 1st gen trucks (I have an 83), he *might* be able to clear them without tubbing them.

79-83 and 84-88 are the years for fitment considerations.

I know the 2 years are different but I was looking at his and it looks alot like mine. I dont hear to many complaint from the 1st gen. trucks about the firewall clearence but figured Id ask people with more knoledge than me. I only found this site about a month ago and its been a huge help thanks 4 all the info.
