wake up.. :z:

actually I do have a spare tranny and transfer case from a junker. It even has a trq converter too. I'm going to change at the least the trq converter if not the tranny when I drop it for the transfer case gears.

But changing tranny is pretty odd though...

They're not a cure-all for heat issues, but CapnC's louvers are one of my favorite mods. You can really feel the heat flowing out when the engine is running. And they look great! These are the larger size.

I didn't want water to flow on the alternator, so I put in the diverter you see on the underside of the hood above the alternator.

They definitely add to the look of the rig.

I used stainless steel hardware instead of the rivets that come with the louvers because I wanted to be able to remove them in preparation for the paint job I plan to do in the future. Fixed the hardware with blue threadlock. When using hardware, just tighten the nuts finger tight and fix them with threadlock so you don't distort the hood sheetmetal.

Thanks Capn for turning me on to these! I luv'm!

I'm curious how good the replacement radiator is. Is it a factory part or an aftermarket unit? Just curious if that could be the change that created the problems.

That looks pretty mean. I might have to try that if not just for the looks. THe cutting of the hood it the scary part. . then again my trucks a hack shop now anyways.

As for the new radiator. I dont know. It looks like it fit pertfect. Is there a part number to look for on the factory ones? But also it was getting hot prior to the accident and new radiator which leads me to believe that it's something else. At first the the old rad was clogged with alot of mud(exterior) so I high pressured washed it out and it stayed a little cooler but still stayed a little hotter then I would like. dunno

Nope, not just for looks unless you don't cut your hood. They really do help to bleed off a lot of heat.

Hey Guys,

I picked up a 85 Mighty max and it was running warm under the hood. The Gauge read fine but everything was hot to the touch. I pulled all the factory AC parts out hoping that would free up some room for air flow. The AC system was dead anyway. I also removed the "gap" guards in the front wheel wells to allow more air to pass into the engine compartment. Since then the truck has cooled down. Down side is you cant go splashing through puddles but i think running cool is more important.
