was checking out the AWshifting.com website for manual shifting solutions, researched for a good month, ordered it up with a two way momentary toggle switch...got it all installed in a few hours Monday morning, sand dunes that afternoon, results, lower transmission temperatures, 2wd most of the time in the sand, and a big smile...if any of you guys have considered this its great for wheeling if you want it to stay in gear of your choice (1,2,3,4) also includes torque converter lockup...ill have to post up some pics later of the finished results.

linky oh and a cheaper solution for switches to fill those toyota blanks in the dash... switches i got the shifting switch from Brett @ awshifting and put it on the left side of the steering wheel, had to cut it out so it was longer and a few mm wider, but looks factory, also with the torque converter locked in 4th gear my rpms are about 250-300 lower, so i expect an increase in about 10% gas mileage hopefully, well see...

Does it throw a code when you switch to manual control?

I just ordered one of these controllers.Did yours come with directions specific for your T100 or were they universal?

he will send an install link, follow the one for the 1996-2005 tacomas, colors are different on the harness, but the wire positions are the same...youll need to pick up some more wire, the ones that string from the control box arent quite long enough, very simple install, just follow his directions and it works no problems, just cant say enough about it offroad, my buddy in his SAS 94 Toyota was having trouble going where i go in 2wd...of course he has a 3.slow... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hey Jake. So we can lock up the converter w/o affecting other stuff? As A340's are renowned for being tough, what are the implications of locking up the converter. Upside is rpm's / mileage. Down side is??? Why would factory not have this built in if it was a good idea (stupid Q?)?

because it shifts harder when locked up, i usually have it locked from 3rd on...dont know if there are necessarily any negative implications other than forgetting to down shift when coming to a stop and/or unlocking the converter when not moving.
