Howdy Carl Have you installed a new tranny filter? That would be my first endeavor. If the Filter has seen a few months I'd be pulling it and spending some time looking at it before installing a new one. Tranny filters sure cause a lot of tranny slipping.
Son's GF had a TOYota that was overheating... She kept adding water and the tranny fluid COOKED in the radiator. Neither he nor she mentioned it to me untill the thing QUIT on her.. I had to put 3 new filters in it before the system got clean enough to keep itself on the road.. It ran for several years after getting the fluid cleaned up.
