To re-cap

"ISC, Mitsu 4G63 2.0L (DSM 1G/2G)" is the correct application for my 1989 Dodge Raider 3.0L. FastEddy said he had ordered the 2nd one shown on the page, so I suspect they are the same part. Eric W.

Two questions:
1) What vehicles the 4G63 2.0L ? I looked in junkyard to find some to "rebuild" and all the ones i saw were differnt. There was no triangle shaped cases, only rectangle. Maybe i was looking at the wrong thing?

2)And, what was the final price for this new one?

1989 5 door montero 3.0 auto
stock original Japanese
about 200k miles

To answer #2, I don't remember the exact price off the top of my head, but it was around $140 for the ISC, o-ring, and shipping.

on cold soak start at fairly cool ambient temps, you will get an idle of about 1200 from the coolant activated fast idle valve which is seperate from the ISC in the TB. The FIDLE valve closes pretty fast, so I assume it activates at fairly low temp. The fidle valve is one of the reasons for the water hoses to the TB...

I must be missing something... was this in response to a different thread? I'm not understanding the relevance here

Aside from being a smart and helpful fellow, and a decent cuss generally, Feddy is also a psychic mind reader with strange powers. It could be that his words were intended to put the voodoo hex on the entire MPI system. With the changing season and cooler weather, that might be what I need.

I think my valve is stuck. It doesnt drop the RPM suddenly...only warming to operating temp will bring the idle to 770 from 1200+.

My Isc has an open circuit. It has been that way at least 6 months or so. Could be why I get not so good gas miles and delayed starts...

If I'm psychic, why am I broke...

Yes, a bad ISC will make for hard cold starts, but the CTS is a more likely culprit.

I was just pointing out that a 1200rpm cold idle is what it's supposed to do, and how it does it, unrelated to the ISC...

Ooooh... Kay. Perhaps there was some PM'ing going on here because I didn't see anything in the thread about the FIAV... and then suddenly POOF! there it was

My idle starts out cold at 1500+ rpm, smoothly drops down to ~1200 rpm, and gradually down to 700 rpm as the temp needle rises above the tick mark on the gauge.

Anyways, I'll just stand by and watch you guys thrash this one out.
