Okay got a 97 Trooper Auto....Got the new motor for it. They said it was a 97 Rodeo Auto. I know that these are the same motors, however when i went to put it in the torque converter shaft(like an inch long or so) Wouldn't fit into the crank.... What is the problem?? Was it the wrong motor or does the rodeo have a different size torque converter??

I know it's a 96 up motor or the 6vD1 and it has the 96 stamp on the heads.

Any help is much appreciated!!!!

DOES THE CRANK SHAFT FOR THE MOTOR YOU ARE TRYING TO USE HAVE A BUSHING IN THE END OF THE CRANK OR A BEARING, IF IT HAS A BEARING IT HAS TO COME OUT , AND A BUSHING HAS TO BE INSTALLED , THE BUSHING HAS TO HAVE A HOLE IN THE CENTER ABOUT 20.60 MM IF THERE IS BEARING IN THERE IT WONT FIT ,IT HAS TO COME OUT , IF THE BUSHING IS IN THERE IT MAY BE BURRED UP ON THE EDGE , ALL OF THE V6 ISUZU ENGS USE THE SAME BUSHING AND CONVERTER BOLT UP ARE ALL THE SAME FROM 96 TO DATE, AND THE ONLY DIFF THEN IS THE NO OF BOLT HOLES IN THE FLEX PLATE, 96 AND LATER USE 6 BOLTS TO HOLD THE CONV, AND THE 95 AND BACK USE 3 OTHERWISE ALL THE BUSHING AND THE FLYWHEELS AND CONVERTER S ARE THE SAME JERRY

it has a bearing, there is a bushing around it...Here once i can upload the pictures i just took i will post them for you to go over. Thanks again Jerry!!!

You wouldn't know the part numbers for those bushing would you?

Okay i just noticed something....The Torque Converter has 3 bolts that bolt it to the flywheel...does that mean it's off a 93-95 instead of a 96-97?? Taro bought a reman tranny for this and now im wondering if he didn't get the right year tranny.

Jerry, i just noticed in this post that you are talking about 3 vs 6 bolts on coverter and flexplate. When my tranny was on the bench I noticed that it had 3 bolts. I am guessing that the flexplate the you sent me is a six bolt. I am replacing the converter. So all I have to do is make sure that it is a 6 bolt converter right? I know that the engine was replaced in my 96 Trooper Maybe they put a 95 engine in it and put a 3 bolt converter in.

The new has what suspiciously looks like a pilot bearing for a manual tranny...

Here is a trick for re-moving the bearing. First you take a grease gun and fill the hole and back of bearing full of grease. Then you take a socket or a rod that just fits inside of the bearing. If you use a socket you need to fill the end of the socket ful grease. Then put a extension on the sockect to seal it. Get a hammer and place the socket in the bearing and hit it. The bearing will start to come out because of the hydrolic pressure that you are creating with grease behind the bearing. The cavity behind the bearing must be full of grease, and as the bearing starts to work out you will have to put somemore grease in it.

Don't bother with the grease method. It is difficult to get to work and even harder on a roller bearing. Bushings, yes. Bearings, not so good.

Just go rent/buy a pilot bearing puller. It should pull the auto-tranny bushing too.

ALL THE 4WD AUTO TRANNYS ARE PRETTY MUCH INTERCHANGABLE ALL THE WAY UP TO 98-99 EXCEPT FOR THE MODE SELECTOR SW, IF YOU HAVE A 3 BOLT TORQUE CONVERTER IT IS FROM A 95 OR EARLIER V6 TROOPER OR A RODEO, THE 6 BOLT CONVERTER AND FLYWHEEL STARTED IN 96, ACTUALLY ALL OF THE 3 BOLT FLYWHEELS HAVE BEEN SUPERCEDED TO TO THE 6 BOLT FLYWHEEL , IT WILL WORK ON A 3 BOLT OR A 6 BOLT CONVERTER, YOU CAIN,T HAVE A 96 ENG IN A 95 IT WONT RUN OR VICE VERSA , IT WILL ALL BOLT RIGHT IN EVERYTHING HOOKS UP IT JUST WILL NOT RUN ,

IN THE CASE OF THE BEARING YOU WILL HAVE TO GET THE BEARING OUT AND INSTALL THE CORRECT BUSHING , THE PT NO FOR THE BUSHING IS 894384-6950 THIS IS A STEEL BUSHING ,, REMEMBER 96-97 ENGS IN 96-97 VEH ONLY , 95 AND EARLIER SAME RODEO AND TROOPER , A QUICK WAY TO TELL THE YEAR, USUALLY THE YEAR IS STAMPED ON THE REAR OR THE CYL HEAD OR LOOK AT THE OUTLET OF THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD 95 AND EARLY ENG WERE TWO BOLT FLANGES ( 10MM STUDS) AND THE 96 AND LATER ALL ENG WHERE THREE BOLT (12 MM STUDS) AND THE MANIFOLDS ARE NOT INTERCHANGABLE ON THE HEADS JERRY
