ok i have a 91 pickup that i rolled and now doing frame up restoration on it and i was wondering if it hard to do a chevy 350 swap on an ifs truck? i know possible ill need a lift to clear the oil pan. but if i go with a th350 will it be hard to fabracate a front drive shaft? also when guys do the swaps do they just splice into the factory wiring harness for the ignition or buy a new wiring harness? Oh btw im planning on swapping a carburated 350 in
i love playing in the mud

leave it alone and spend your money on gears, lockers and a roll cage.

are you planning on doing an sas? I rode in an 82 toy with a 350 swap it realy ate up the mud better than the other toys running the same size tires but he was also the only one that broke that day

It's a lot more work that you can ever imagine. It is worth it but lots of work. I swapped in a 350 small block into my 82 D-50 pickup years ago. Glad I did it but what a pain it was. Word of advice do the SAS first then the engine swap. ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/baldy110/SAS%20conversion/DSCF0312.jpg)

Gotta ponder the fact that the toyota driveline won't like it for more than about 20% throttle...

Believe it or not but the toyota drivetrain is pretty stout. It depends a lot on your driving style. I have seen two wheel drive toyota pickups being drag raced with a 350 using the stock rearend and they hold up.

You would be better off doing a built 4.3 Vortec swap, it will fit easier, lighter, and are common enough that virtually every thing you need you can buy from one outfit or another. I don't think the stock torsion bars will support the weight or clear the 350 even w/susp. lift, an SAS and BL will also be needed.
You might also consider a Supra straight six swap, same benefit but less weight and less headaches. If you found you still needed more power you could always bolt on a turbo or two.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

i ran a 350 in a 87 4runner for about 5yrs. it would always make me laugh when people that had never ran a small block chevy setup would tell me that my drivetrain would not hold-up . i think that according to what i've picked up from MTV these folks are called "haters". having just under 300 hp in toyota was a blast. i used all of the stuff from advanced adapters. make no mistake this is not a cheaper alternative to rebuidling a 22re, but i had no regrets. i will definately do another one some day.
