10 bolt Lockrite not engaging #835925 09/14/07 11:24 AM

Hi, the lockrite locker in my front differential has always worked no problem but it has decided to freewheel which does not make any odd noises and seems to work like a normal open diff. Does anyone have any experience with that? My axle on the right side has exploded one time since I have owned it and I just replaced it and moved on. I am not sure exactly when it stopped working. Should I try to fix the lockrite or should I just save for a 10 bolt selectable? Thanks, Ryan <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Ryan-

Two options, you broke the axle within the front housing.

Or, when you grenated that CV, the shock load took out the pins in the lockright. Not uncommon, as when one side breaks, 100% of the torque going to the front driveshaft is put into the non-broken axle.

The only way to tell is to pull it apart.

Good Luck,
Michael

Thanks for the insight Michael. I guess that is the next step. Ryan
