no, i did not do that. that is the one thing i forgot to check. i ended up dropping it off at firestone tonite. i figure the only way they can stick me with an expensive bill is if they say i need a new break booster(knock on wood) or all new lines. and i hear those rarely if ever go out. the only other thing i diddnt try which i just read up about now is adjusting the booster rod. maybe it was too far in and not making enough pressure?? while bleeding, i did notice that the fluid wasent bursting out as other bleed jobs ive done.

I am going ask this question and it is not because I think you are an idiot.
Did you mount the calipers with the bleeders on top?
The reason I ask is, many years ago on an old BB I was on a person was have a problem with his brakes not bleeding the air out. After a couple of weeks of back and forth posting it turned out, he had the calipers on the wrong side. He was very embarrassed. I look at it this way, stuff happens and he will never do that again!!!!

If the pedal is mushy even without vacuum assist (engine off) and goes clear to the floor, IMHO 1) your bleeding is not complete, or 2) you have a bad caliper, or you have a bad master cylinder (even though new), or 3) you have a swelling brake line probably ready to burst. Brake bleeding without assistance is not the easiest exercise. Personally, I have found that since I bought one of these, it is one of the easiest jobs to do on the truck. My brake fluid is always fresh because I actually bleed the brakes annually now! Some use vacuum bleeders, but I see issues associated with them (sucking in air, etc.). Can't beat the Motive unit IMHO. HTH,

If everything is new and working correctly I would think you still have air in a line somewhere. I had a similar problem a few months ago on my '91. I bled the breaks in the proper order, got a nice flow each time from all valves, and still had break fade. I decided to bleed the whole system a 3rd time using new fluid. I bled each vale until fresh clean brake fluid came through the line. This did the trick, brake fade is gone.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

Are they the proper calipers for your truck? The V6 calipers are dual piston and larger and would give you a soft pedal, but I don't know about all the way to the floor. Are they the right pads (seems like they wouldn't fit if they weren't, but who knows)? I know people who have gotten bad master cylinders from the Auto chain stores, so perhaps your master is bad, unlikely, but possible. Will it build pressure if you pump it?

ya, its the right 4 piston caliper. the pedal dosent actually go all the way to the floor. it stops about 3 1/2 inches from it. but its quite soft the whole way down. it does not build pressure when the car is on. baaaah...ill let you all know what the shop finds out tomorrow.

As stated, you have air in your line. Possible the LSPV is failing, but most likely, air. It is a very simple system and can only be so many things.

they installed new wheel cylanders in the rear, and re bled the breaks. the tires lock up now. which is good. still not as responsive as i would like. but apparantly there is nothing that can be done about that?? thanks to all who helped me try and figure this out. much appreciated!
