Hello group, Somewhat new T100 user here. It's 97 T100 SR5 4x4 Ext Cab 5spd I'm having some issues with shifting gears.
Anybody driving similar car in Western Mass, Springfield area, please? I would certainly use recommendation for a good mechanic working with T100s I purchased this car from local Toyota dealer. I'm NOT happy with their repair shop.
Any respond appreciated

Thank you Check the FAQ for the broken clutch pedal bracket. If yours is broken it could keep the pedal from fully disengaging the clutch. Also, make sure you are running a GL-4 lube in your transmission, NOT a GL-5. I've been running Redline MT-90 ( MT-90 link) and it shifts great. The additives in the GL-5 oils do not let the synchronizers in the transmission do their job, the GL-4 additives are specifically for this.

I grew up out there. We never used anyone but Arcouettes, just over the Enfield line on N. Maple, for service on our vehicles for the 30+ years me and/or my family was in EL. Good couple of guys.

Hello,
Thank you for those who responded. Sorry for not checking in sooner.
I purchased this car in October 2006 (115K). Shifting was fine at the beginning (as much as I can say). Maybe except a little bit of a jerking when I let the clutch pedal go to quickly. But IÆve learned to live with it making sure the pedal is let go slowly and rpm is raised during shifting. Then (spring this year) IÆve started having trouble shifting. Most obvious I could not engage the gear. First gear when stopped for example. Plus I could feel sometimes clutch was not fully disengaged. When full stopped in the first gear and clutch fully de-pressed I could feel the car wanted to go. Surely enough cracked pedal bracket was the reason. I discovered this by pure chance. It is replaced now. Slave cylinder was replaced (rusted). Master cylinder (on the clutch line) refurbished kit was applied. New fluid. Purged good as much as I can say. Unfortunately the results are not 100%. Shifting is OK now. But the jerking if not careful is still there. Worse, sometimes I could feel some kind of ôthumpö from under the car. Like the trans plate (or something else) does not have time to adjust and the gears engage very quickly. Secondly sometimes, especially when shifting between higher gears, I can ôfeelö gears in my shifting lever. On top of all of this there is this shimming like noise when clutch is disengaged. (Some bearing is spinning and should not?) This noise goes a way when clutch pedal is fully pressed. I have been to a local mechanic who works with BMW and his is very busy (must be good). He says everything is OK for now. He says not to worry about the noise. He adjusted the pedal so shifting (engaging/disengaging) is done as high from the floor as possible (donÆt like it). He says no point to open up the transmission as is. Wait until more trouble. IÆm not sure if IÆm happy with this advice, but I donÆt want to chase ghosts either. And of course his hour is $85.00. I know by my own experience that sometimes little job takes long because you donÆt know this little one trick, because you have not done this ever before. SO, he repair job could be more costly then necessary. SO IÆm still looking for a mechanic who works with Toyota pickups often. By the way this mechanic advised me to put GL 5 Synthetic oil into the transmission. Like Redline or Mobil. IÆm willing to follow your advice more then BMW guy advice. Speaking about GL-4, should I go for synthetic GL-4 ?

Adam, Thanks for your suggestion. What cars were you and your family fixing with Arcouettes, please? Is it Arcouettets Auto Center Inc or something else (many results on google)?

When I had my mini and switched to Redline I noticed a big difference in the early morning cold shifting. I didn't tend to bind or be so hard to get into the lower gears. Other than that, did not notice much of a change.

Going with a synthetic was the only way I could find a real GL-4.
