Anybody running mud tires in this size? If so what kind? I posted last week about possibly putting on a set of 235's but I have changed my mind. I pulled a 6x10 trailer with a fourwheeler on it this weekend and the Kia did great. It was about a 280 mile round trip with quite a bit of steep hills. I obviously had to use 4th gear on the larger hills but never had to go to 3rd. It also go 20 mpg on the trip and I drove 60 - 65 most of the time except on the steeper hills. I have 215 all terrain tires now and want to stay with this size since it performed so well. I really don't want to loose my pulling power. I am having trouble finding mud tires this small.

I think 215/75's are 28"x8.5"
I'm running 30"x9.5" muds with no problem so far, the spedo may be off a bit do to tire size and you loose a little bit on the top end speed wise but no isssues so far. my spedo and my GPS are usually within a few Kms of each other.
You will burn some extra fuel and may feel that the accelaration suffers a bit, but I can live with that. I think the wider tires and taller ride make the spory handle a bit better.
If you can't find muuders that small you can fit 30's in there with no lift and have no rubbing issues with stock wheels, you "may" need to trim a bit of the bumper etc! but several people have 30's and have no clearance issues at all.
Good luck

BFGoodrich makes a LT215x75x15. I bought a 85 Ranger with this size and they worked great off road. When I bought the truck the guy said they had over 40,000 miles on them and they still had good grip. I had 31x10.5x15 on my Kia and they were incredible in Moab. If you want mud tires I don't think you can go wrong with the BFGs unless you like deep gumbo then you need bigger than a 215 anyway. Dennis

I think I may try the BFG's. I know the 235's would look good but after the way it handle the trailer so well I really don't want to loose the pulling power. About 40% of my highway driving will be with a trailer behind me. Thanks for your help!!

And the local tyre shop which sells Mickeys recomends getting a harder compound tyre, lots of issues with punctures and slashed tyres etc! I had asked about them when I got my tyres. But I bet they would be great on nice soft sand, and mud, maybe some nice rounded rocks!
