I was curious....I've got a rebuilt block/head, new TII for a Daytona Shelby sitting around (the 2.2liter)
Has anyone tried this and would it work?

Never been tried. I guess anything can work if you have the fab skills and $$$ for custom machine work. It's not a bolt in.

If you look in the old Mopar catalogs, I think they spec a different block for RWD applications. Not sure what the differences are, but I know they sold a different block for RWD custom apps.
Now I have an 85 Shelby Charger sitting here that would love a nice TII engine.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

I don't think you'd like the shipping charges though...I have no idea how to ship it and who to ship it through....besides I love these engines and I think I'd find another Daytona to stick it ni if needs be.
Other than the obvious transferring electronics and such into the Raider and fabbing mounts in the bay and connecting to tranny is it feasible? (and w/in reason to do?)
Reason I ask is I've sen the posting line about the mileage and don't necessarily like the idea of 15mpg....any other constructive ideas to help get the milegage up to something on the lines of 16-18(in town) and 20-22(highway)

How much will such a swap, or any swap for that matter, cost you? Even a basic swap only ahs a chance of justification if the existing motor is shot.
If you drive an average of 10,000 miles per year, the difference between 15MPG and 20MPG at $3/gal will save you $500/year. That will take you three years to recoup even a modest swap at $1500 in cost.
Sure you can do for less, if you get lucky on donor parts, etc. you could also spent plenty more.
Do the swap because you want to, not because you don't like the MPG. Like we always say, you're driving heavy metal with a fully boxed frame and the aerodynamics of cargo trailer.
[Note: None of the above applies to going diesel...]

Very nice point Monty, hey I see everyone always talking about that Gm swap. Why is that such an easy/common swap? Are there articles somewhere on that??

They say it's not exacly easy. The real motiviation I think is due to how readily available they are, how cheaps parts are, and how they can be found anywhere.
I think it was Landraider who recently posted about losing the waterpump whil on trail. Headed out in another's rig to the local store, got a new pump for something cheap, and had in installed on the trail in no time.
Try doing that with a Mistu 3.0...
Seach for the 4.3 and for users. try users Landraider, BobShaw, BigBlue, Don, and LeeRaider.

It was my starter that died on the trail. I was all WTF'ing, but it took like an hour to go get one, and install it. Took 10 mins to put it on, and it was happy. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

You can find rusted out Blazers and S-10's with perfectly running 4.3's all over the north east, and get them dirt cheap too.
