I thought some people might be intrested in this fact.

If you have a stick welder that runs dc strait polarity you can use it to tig weld mild steel or SS. All you need is an air cooled tig torch, an argon bottle, reg and flow meter.

This is a much much cheaper way to set up and tig weld then buying a tig welder especialy if you already have a stick welder. Granted you cant weld aluminum unless your stick welder also welds AC and has a continuous high frequency switch. But instead of spending 1800 on a tig welder you can buy a good powersupply for 400 and an aircooled torch and bottle etc for anouther 400 and your good to go.

yes its scratch start tig welding but this is how its done in the field and im willing to bet alotta ppl would like to be able to tig weld with their setups.

Im using a shop welder right now I dont have money for my own setup currently. But when I can afford it thats what im gunna do =). Actualy im using a Tig/stick machine with the setings on stick welding so a picture would be of a stick, tig combo machine. When your welding pipe its easyer not to use a pedle and just have a consistant amperage. I just figured on the fact that people who already have a DC stick machine might like to know its not much of an investment to be able to use it to tig weld.
